CDL Passenger Endorsement Study Guide (P)

Published June 25, 2026

The passenger (P) endorsement is required when you drive a vehicle designed to carry 16 or more passengers (including the driver). Here is how to prepare for the written exam.

What the P endorsement test covers

  • Railroad-highway grade crossing procedures for buses
  • Destination signs, standee lines, and safe boarding
  • Emergency exits, evacuation, and fire extinguisher basics
  • Mirror use, stopping distance, and managing passengers
  • Prohibited practices (distracted driving, unauthorized stops)

Study plan

  1. Read your state CDL manual passenger section
  2. Take the free combination and general knowledge tests if you have not already
  3. Use PassCDL Pro passenger practice for scored questions with explanations
  4. Switch to exam mode the week before test day

PassCDL passenger bank

PassCDL Pro includes 70+ passenger questions with unlimited retakes. Most students need 1–2 weeks of daily practice after finishing general knowledge.
